Gibson Guitartown Update

The date is set for May 7, 2009 at Universal Orlando for Gibson's Orlando Guitartown. This is a charity auction to benefit several groups around O-town. There are about 70 ten-foot guitars and maybe 20 regular Gibson Les Pauls. It's going to be a lot of fun and I am anxious to see what musicians show up. I based my guitar on Jack Johnson and would freak out if he showed. There is supposed to be a show by The Blue Man Group, so that will be interesting. Is it reasonable to consider losing 20 pounds and fitting into my leather pants for this event? This is what happens when I get the music in me.

Here's my guitar. I am so proud of her. She's been downtown on Central Blvd. near Dexter's. The neck is a line from a Jack Johnson song: The water below gives a gift to the sky, and the clouds give back every time they cry. I just love her 70s hair and you can't see it from this pic, but she has glittery rhinestones glued all over her to catch the sun.

Spring Break....finally

It has been chilly all week here in FLA and not exactly Spring Break weather. The sun has been out, but it's been windy and chilly nonetheless. So finally, Good Friday, in the mid 80s, we made it to the beach! And so did every other person in Central Florida apparently. It was beautiful and fun and the kids got to play and dig and squeal and run and I got to catch up on some girlfriend time. We saw dolphins and unfortunately this poor guy who beached himself and for whatever reason could not fly. He was pitifully trying to drag himself onto shore with his beak. OMG. How sad! I wondered how long he must have been floating before he washed ashore. Coincidentally, Leila had brought her stuffed pelican to the beach that day, so she went and got it (to keep him company) and we stood guard near this poor fellow until the beach patrol arrived to take him to the animal rescue. I hope he makes it.

Today, my friend called me "a woman of great faith." I had never thought of myself as that before, being non-religious, but I guess I am and it felt kinda nice to be described as such. Good Friday, indeed.

Cutie of the Day

One of the best parts of the Doggie Art Fest is that I get to see all the cute dogs parading about. I just love, love them. And I definitely got my corgi on yesterday. But this little guy was the cutest overall. He was seriously smiling for the camera. I asked what his name was, thinking it was going to be Spike or Killer......nope, Jefferson. You go with your bad self, Jeff.

Bunny Dog

The 6th Annual Doggie Art Festival was the best yet. The new venue over in Baldwin Park worked out very well and I can definitely see this show growing in size in the years to come. It was so to see everyone who stopped by my booth, both old friends and new. I actually forgot this guy in the scanner at home and Tim had to bring him back later in the day. (ADD, I tell you!) It didn't take very long before he was SOLD and off to his new home. I'm looking forward to recuping and organizing tomorrow. I want to revamp the website, the shop, and I got the crazy idea that I want to change the name of my company. I won't reveal anything yet, especially considering I think that is going to involve a lot of work, but we'll see. Ya godda do whatcha godda do.
It doesn't feel like Spring Break. Especially being that it will be in the friggin' 40s at night for most of the week. It's Florida, it's April. Halloo?? Anyway, Friday is looking good for a beach day. If I can get one beach day this week, I will be stoked! Ha.

Doggie Art Show

Getting ready for the Doggie Art Show tomorrow! Praying that it won't rain....at least until after 4:00. This little guy Squeegee was almost blind and had light sensitive eyes, so he has to wear these goggles when outside. How cute is he?! I have no profound words to share today, except I feel big changes coming and I can't help but see everything coming together and life being tweaked in a very good way! I know I will have fun tomorrow, but I need some Zzzzz. C'mon 1:30.

Wild Things

One time Leila and I were on a road trip and she was watching her DVD of Where The Wild Things Are and every time it got to the part that would say...Where the Wild Things Are... we would growl it, louder and louder. This went on for about a half hour. No kidding. But it was hilarious. And it inspired me to paint this for her for Christmas. It hangs on the door to her bedroom, and she always tilts it, she says, "so it will look like the wild things are really in there." That is her down at the bottom as "Queen of the Wild Things.

The reason I am sharing this is because of THIS. Oh. My. God. Spike Jonze did it. Spike Jonze also did the Beasties "Sabotage" video. Nuff said. Can't wait. This is going to rock.
