Doggie Art Festival 2014

I'm feeling surprisingly on track for the art show tomorrow.  Just finishing up a few things and doing some organizing. Then it will be time to load the van. After that I am looking forward to celebrating my MIL's birthday at Capital Grille! I don't know if it was because I am the poster artist this year or what, but I sure could get used to NOT scrambling around at the last minute.

This Girl Needs Some Sun

Look who showed up on the table. I've been thinking that her name will be Nora...Adorable Nora. I started with randomly, intuitively laying down various paint colors on the canvas. Then I sketched her and painted in her skin tones and hair. Her bathing suit is actually the negative space (background) showing through. I used some white to fill in layers on the background and used the end of a paintbrush to scratch in the little shells and beach ball and sun. Next time, I think I'll scratch in some words too!
