Kona

We just adopted this little cutie pie last Wednesday from our local animal shelter. He is such a little sweetheart, I could just eat his little face off! It is heartbreaking to see all the animals in the shelters. My heart breaks thinking of it. If you are considering adopting a pet, please visit a shelter instead of a puppy mill or breeder. These animals need our help. And please, spay and neuter your animals. And encourage everyone you know to do the same. We need to control the breeding of animals so that ones like this aren't euthanized because they happened to born at the wrong place with mixed lineage. If you are unable to adopt, please donate $$ to your local shelter. It is tax deductable and the money you donate helps so much. Or donate here....http://aplacetobark.blogspot.com/

My Muse

This dashboard hula girl lives in my studio, watching over all of the creative processes that take place. She is probably older than I am, but still in great shape for her age. She has broken off several times at the ankles, about 4 times since I've had her, and probably a few other times previous, before my mom passed her on to me. As I was flying out the door to my last art show, I haphazardly grabbed her off the windowsill and she bounced on the table and her legs broke off again. I was momentarily horrified and my mind immediately thought of what kind of omen this might be. Nonetheless, stuffed into my bag with no feet to stand on, this little girl still brought me good luck.

So, I thought it would be appropriate that she should be with me as I venture into this creative process of blogging. A few short months ago, I stumbled into this world and was immediately captivated by the kindness, support, and creative positive energy that is swirling about, this way and that. Just what I was looking for, but in a surprising format. I asked the Universe for some supportive friends and opened myself up to welcome what might come. Ta-da! Plus, I recently have joined an Artist's Way group here in my area where other supportive friendships are blooming as well.

I feel like a puppy, with a gangly unsure gait, searching for words, not yet ready to bound about, letting my thoughts run free. But curious all the while. (We just got a puppy, hence the simile).

So here I am. I proudly join the bloggie sisterhood and in the words of my 3 year-old wild child, "Yippooo!!"

Also, before I forget, Happy Earth Day! Go out and plant something, feel the earth between your fingers and toes. Hug a tree and then draw it. Take deep breaths and let her know you love her!
