One time Leila and I were on a road trip and she was watching her DVD of Where The Wild Things Are and every time it got to the part that would say...Where the Wild Things Are... we would growl it, louder and louder. This went on for about a half hour. No kidding. But it was hilarious. And it inspired me to paint this for her for Christmas. It hangs on the door to her bedroom, and she always tilts it, she says, "so it will look like the wild things are really in there." That is her down at the bottom as "Queen of the Wild Things.
The reason I am sharing this is because of THIS. Oh. My. God. Spike Jonze did it. Spike Jonze also did the Beasties "Sabotage" video. Nuff said. Can't wait. This is going to rock.
Love it!
ReplyDeleteBrian and I both have our original Wild Things books from when we were little and so you can imagine how excited I was that my library card has the Wild Things monsters on it. I love my library card. And I can't WAIT to see this movie! I used to think about decorating a kid's room in Wild Things, but then thought maybe that was kind of selfish, considering monsters are not usually what kids enjoy looking at. But these monsters are so CUTE!
And so is that painting, wow!
I love that too. What it's painted in?
ReplyDeleteLL- It's painted in acrylic. I've been branching out a little bit lately with mixed media, but basically I stick to acrylic.
ReplyDeleteYou know, when I was at art college acrylic was the one thing I just couldn't paint with! It used to dry too fast for me. I wish I had got to grips with it because I like the look it creates.
